More than 300 athletes and 150 coaches from across Pennsylvania travel to the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Winter Games in the Johnstown area, each year. This statewide competition features intense competition in alpine and cross-country skiing, figure and speed skating events.

This event requires volunteers from around the state to serve as officials, athlete escorts, award presenters and various other positions. Spectators are welcome to visit any of the competition venues and cheer on the athletes.

Since 1999, under the leadership of coaches Joe Carroll and Scott Allison, the Valor Bowl has served as an all star game for the senior football players from several of the high schools in Chester County. It also serves as the largest fundraiser for Special Olympics of PA Chester County.

This year’s game will be held at Downingtown East on May 29,2008. Come out and support your favorite high school teams and your Special Olympic athletes. If you would like to be one of the athletes announced along with the players at the beginning of the game, please contact our office.
